Preventive Care
The best way to avoid
costly treatment is through prevention. To help you
maintain your oral health and appearance, a regime of careful
cleaning and examination is part of each preventive appointment.
Regular hygiene appointments include:
-
Thorough cleaning &
flossing
-
Full-mouth dental
and periodontal (gum) exam
-
Oral cancer
screening
-
Periodic X-Rays to
detect decay, bone loss or tumors
Most importantly, your
preventive care is customized to meet your needs. It may
include fluoride treatments, sealants, mouth guard wear, and/or
counseling on diet or damaging habits.

Periodontal Therapy
Sore, bleeding gums
indicate the beginning of Periodontal Disease. However,
periodontal disease often has no signs detectable by you until
it is quite advanced. This makes an evaluation by a dental
professional even more critical. If untreated, discomfort,
bad breath, and tooth loss will result. Research has
detected a link between gum disease and other diseases such as
heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and low birth weight babies.
If indication of gum
disease exists, a non-surgical, very comfortable treatment is
available for many stages of gum disease.

TMJ (Jaw
Joint) Therapy
Various factors can
place undue strain on the temporomandibular jaw joint and
surrounding muscles. The strain from jaw joint
misalignment may lead to limited opening, difficulty chewing,
facial discomfort, jaw popping, and/or severe headaches.
If you are experiencing
symptoms of this nature, both Doctors can develop a treatment
program based upon your individual needs.

Anti-Anxiety Protocol
Many people feel
anxious about going to the dentist, whether it is for a cleaning
or a full mouth reconstruction. We do offer amenities such
as in-chair massagers and CD headsets with relaxing music to
reduce your anxiety. However, the most effective pampering
we can do is to give you the personal attention you deserve.
We are always as gentle as possible and our team works hard to
let you know what to expect from your experiences in our office
as we build a relationship of trust. Many patients who
once needed sedatives for dental care find they no longer need
them in our office! However, for those who truly need pharmacologic help to reduce their anxiety, we are happy to
prescribe an oral anxiolytic. This is a little pill you take one
to two hours before your dental appointment to help you relax.
Many of our patients snore through their appointments!
Please let us know any specific fears you have and any way we
can make your visits with us more comfortable and pleasant!
